Monstera siltepecana is a beautiful climbing aroid known for its elongated green leaves with distinctive silvery markings and contrasting dark green veins. Juvenile plants have a striking metallic appearance, making this an unusual and eye-catching addition to an indoor plant collection.
Naturally a climber, it can also be allowed to trail from a shelf or hanging planter. When given a moss pole or other support, the plant will climb vigorously and develop larger, more mature foliage.

Care guide
Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.
Water: Water when the top 2-3cm of the growing medium feels dry. Avoid allowing the roots to remain waterlogged.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity and appreciates good airflow.
Temperature: Best between 18-28°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
Soil: Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix that allows plenty of airflow around the roots.
Feeding: Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced indoor plant fertiliser.
Size and growth
-
- Current pot size: currently available in a 17cm pot
- A fast-growing climbing or trailing aroid that develops larger foliage when given suitable support.
Moss pole tip: Providing a moss pole encourages the plant to climb and produce larger, more mature leaves.
-
- Keep the support slightly moist to encourage aerial roots to attach.
- Secure stems loosely rather than tying them tightly.
- Guide new growth towards the support as the plant develops.
Styling and placement ideas
-
- Allow it to trail from a shelf or elevated planter for a relaxed cascading display, or grow it vertically on a moss pole to highlight its natural climbing habit.
